WOODCOCKS SNAP UP PENNY'S WORK

A Leading Rossendale solicitors is supporting local talent, after snapping up a student’s photographic artwork to display in one of its branches. Photographs of Lancashire landmarks are being displayed in the Rawtenstall branch of Woodcocks. Photography student Penny Willcox approached Kate Allsop from the firm as part of her final year project, in which she had to persuade a local business to display her work in public. Penny, who is studying for a degree in Photographic Media at Blackburn College, will be assessed partly on how well her work fits into the offices at Woodcocks. Penny, who lives in Haslingden, says: “I was delighted when Woodcocks said they wanted to display my art work in the reception area. It is a well-respected long-standing firm and it’s really exciting to know that my work will be seen by so many people.” The 21 year-old has impressed local photography firm Malcolm Birkett Photography, who has offered her a job as an Assistant Photographer when she graduates this summer. Senior Partner at Woodcocks, Roger Medlock, commented: “Penny’s work adds a contemporary but local and down-to-earth feel to our reception area. We would welcome anyone who wishes to call in to see the photographs, leave a comment or consider buying a print! “Woodcocks is really pleased to get involved in this project. It is a great chance to showcase the talent we have in Rossendale, and it also brightens up our offices!” Photo shows (l-r) Penny Willcox and Woodcocks solicitor Kate Allsop
